Traverse City Police Department Harley Davidson Road King Motorcycle

The Traverse City Police Department Motor Team includes six police officers that are equipped with the police Road King version of Harley Davidson Motorcycles. All officers are trained through Northwestern Traffic Institute and re-certify every year to maintain their riding eligibility.
In addition to their primary responsibilities, which include, traffic control, accident investigation, and calls for service, the motor unit has escorted many dignitaries. These dignitaries include: President Gerald Ford, President George W. Bush, Vice President Dick Chaney, First Lady Rosalyn Carter, Governors William Milliken, John Engler, and Jennifer Granholm You may have seen the motor team escorting the Blue Angels during the Cherry Festival. We support the Father Fred and M.D.A. charity rides. Motor officers have participated in rides commemorating fallen officers through MI-Cops and visiting the police memorial wall in Washington, D.C. The motor unit is an excellent public relations tool.
The current team members are: Officers Paul Ellul, Kevin Dunklow, Matt Richmond, Andrew Grubb, Sgt. Erich Bohrer, and Sgt. Jeff O'Brien who serves as the command officer of the Motor Unit. You may reach Sgt. O'Brien at 231-995-5150 or e-mail him at jobrien@traversecitymi.gov.
